We know, most never accomplish or maintain their resolutions for the new year. At the core of why we even bother - our homes (and budgets) have been stressed during the frantic holiday season - the new year promises us new beginnings and a refocused purpose. ...And everything in it's place. Now that you've downsized (see Resolution Two) and you've cleared up a little space, you have a great opportunity to start fresh and really organize.

If you've boxed up seasonal items (e.g. Christmas decorations), occasionally-used items (that "must-have" kitchen gadget) or things you just absolutely can't part with, make sure they're marked clearly and find a good place in the garage (or outside storage if you have it). The idea is to have a specific section for each item for quick-and-easy retrieval when needed.

Then, apply the same method to your house. Closets, cabinets, kitchen pantry, etc. If you're feeling particularly motivated, consider purchasing a labeler and clearly demarcate where you'd specifically like things to go. It might help your teenager who likes to just dump things willy-nilly when emptying the dishwasher!
